eBRC & FEMA Export Realization Reference

Realization periods follow RBI FEMA/EDPMS rules. eBRC details are generated on the DGFT portal.

Quick Answer: How long does an Indian exporter have to realise export proceeds?

The window depends on the shipping-bill date: exports on/after 1 Oct 2026 get 15 months — 18 months if invoiced or settled in INR; exports from 5 Jun to 30 Sep 2026 have 9 months; exports from mid-Nov 2025 to early Jun 2026 had 15 months. Realisation is tracked through EDPMS; overdue entries risk caution-listing, which blocks DGFT benefits like RoDTEP and drawback — the calculator below applies the correct band automatically.

Realization Deadline Calculator

Enter a shipping bill date to get the RBI realization deadline. The window is selected automatically from the RBI date bands (9 / 15 / 18 months) that apply to that export date.

📅 Rule change alert: From 1 Oct 2026, exports move to a 15-month realisation window (18 months for INR-invoiced exports) under the new FEMA (Export & Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. This calculator already applies the correct window by shipping-bill date.
How to Generate an eBRC on DGFT
  1. Ensure your AD bank has uploaded the realization data: the bank transmits IRM (Inward Remittance Message) details to the DGFT eBRC repository against your shipping bills.
  2. Log in to the DGFT portal with your IEC-linked credentials.
  3. Go to Services → eBRC and open the eBRC module (IRM/ORM repository).
  4. Select the shipping bills for which payment has been realized and verify the linked IRM details.
  5. Self-certify the realized value and click Generate eBRC; download the digitally signed certificate.
  6. Use the eBRC for DGFT benefit claims (RoDTEP, drawback, RCMC reports) and bank reporting.
If the IRM is not auto-linked (buyer paid via a different bank, amount mismatch, or deduction), coordinate with your AD bank to manually map the remittance to the shipping bill before generating the eBRC.

  • ● Delayed or blocked RoDTEP, drawback and RCMC-linked benefits
  • ● AD bank reporting complications and higher scrutiny

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BRC, FIRC and eBRC?

A BRC is the bank-issued realization certificate on RBI format, FIRC is the Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate, and eBRC is the electronically generated BRC created on the DGFT portal. eBRC is what DGFT checks for benefit claims.

Can I claim RoDTEP or drawback without an eBRC?

DGFT systems cross-reference EDPMS/eBRC data before processing benefits. Outstanding EDPMS entries typically block or delay claims, so generating the eBRC promptly is essential.

How do I get an extension for realization?

Apply through your AD bank with supporting documents (dispute letters, amended contracts, bank correspondence). The AD bank can grant extensions under the RBI master direction on export of goods and services.

What if the buyer pays less than the invoice value?

Small differences from banking charges or deductions are normal; provide a reversal letter / adjustment request through the AD bank so the EDPMS entry can be closed. Larger shortfalls may require RBI permission.

Are the realization deadlines official?

Yes. The calculator applies the RBI date bands by shipping-bill date: 9 months for exports from 5 Jun 2026 to 30 Sep 2026, 15 months for exports on/after 1 Oct 2026 (18 months if invoiced in INR), and the matching band for older shipments. Always confirm the exact cutover with your AD bank, as extensions may apply in specific cases.

How is an eBRC generated on DGFT?

Your AD bank uploads the realization (IRM) data to the DGFT eBRC repository against your shipping bill. You then log in to the DGFT portal, self-certify the realized value and generate the eBRC, which is digitally signed by DGFT and ready for benefit applications.

Is the eBRC & FEMA Guide free to use?

Yes. The eBRC & FEMA Guide is 100% free for personal and commercial use — no registration, login or payment required.
